报告摘要:

Generating hydrogen (H2) from water by sunlight, namely solar-hydrogen, has been viewed as a promising technology for producing sustainable fuel for the future. To be competitive, solar-hydrogen has to be produced at a low cost, which underlines the paramount importance of the development of extremely efficient catalysts for water-splitting. Currently, there are two major technical challenges, namely sunlight absorption (especially visible light) and efficient water-splitting for solar-hydrogen production. In this talk,Dr Sun will introduce their recent researches in the controlling synthesis of minority surfaces, band engineering and computational modelling of titnaium dioxide (TiO2). From those researches, the power of computational calculations and modelling in materials design will be illustrated vividly.

报告人简介:

Dr Chenghua Sun completed his PhD in Prof. Hui-Ming Cheng's lab at the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2007. He then joined Prof. Max Lu's and Prof. Sean Smith's group at the University of Queensland as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2007. Since then, he has worked as a postdoctoral fellow in The University of Queensland, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH, Sweden), Princeton University and Harvard University. Currently, Dr Sun is a research fellow in Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, The University of Queensland. His major interest is the development of advanced photocatalysts for renewable energy and clean environment.
